While those are certainly fun touches to the experience, it won’t ruin the experience if you don’t do this for your family. I would have loved to spend more time in this space as it was my favorite on the ship. The Cove Bar had a great cocktail menu and a selection of wine and beer.
What It’s Like to Live on a Cruise Ship for 6 Months
Another great way to see characters is in group live performances, which is a blast for little kiddos. We were able to attend the Tree Lighting, a Santa Storytime, as well as the Pirate Party and got to see many of the characters perform together. At ages 3 and 5, my boys love all things Disney but are both on the smaller side, so they would be shorter than many of the ride height requirements at Disney World or Disneyland. The Disney Wish Cruise gave them a mini taste of the Disney experience, but in an environment they could enjoy and manage. On January 22, 2019, Port Canaveral officials gathered to discuss the new liners' docking at DCL's exclusive Cruise Terminal 8. The facility was improved and upgraded in order to accommodate/berth the 3 new boats simultaneously.

We selected the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, and they truly thought of everything when they designed the space. Outfitted with a crazy comfortable Queen bed (I am very picky about my bed) with super soft Frette linens and comfortable pillows as well as convertible kids bunk beds, we really had space for everyone. The Disney Wish also offers inside staterooms, oceanview rooms without a verandah, and concierge-level, all Disney-themed, of course.
Casual Dining on the Disney Wish Cruise Ship
Disney executives declined to address larger issues going on in the cruise industry, such as when the Centers for Disease Control will allow cruise ships to sail out of U.S. ports again. The Disney Cruise Line held a grand reveal Thursday morning to lay out more details on the Disney Wish, the company’s fifth cruise ship, which will set out from Port Canaveral for the Bahamas starting June 9, 2022. At the released on March 9, 2018, the new ship's exterior rendering was shown the company's traditional black-white-red hull color scheme.

She helps over 200,000 people per month follow their Disney travel dreams. The Oceaneer Club is designed for children ages 3 to 12 and features interactive games, toys, and theming inspired by beloved Disney characters. Just like many modern cruise ships, Disney Wish has a high proportion of Verandah and Oceanview staterooms.

All-new on-ship attractions
The Slide-a-Saurus Rex waterslide (water-coaster at sea) is located atop the ship and features a 765 ft (233 m) long 4-decks high transparent tube. The spinning tube reaches an incredible height of 150 ft (46 m) above sea level (there's a 42-inch / 107 cm height requirement). "Toy Story Splash Zone" is the kids' aquapark where the waterslide ends. The adults-only "Quiet Cove" pool area is a great place to hide from all the little angels and devils around the ship. The unique accommodation is sized 1965 ft2 (183 m2), with max capacity 8 passengers, and interior design themed on Walt Disney's 3D animation film "Moana" (2016). The Wish Tower Suite features 2x master bedrooms, 4x full bathrooms, half-bath (powder room), library (converting to a bedroom), kids' room (with built-in bunkbeds).
One of the most exciting "firsts" on board the Disney Wish is the first-ever Disney attraction at sea. AquaMouse is a family water attraction that brings Mickey shorts to life, and it will include show scenes, lighting and special effects, and more throughout its 760 feet of tubes perched above the upper decks. The adults-only spaces on Disney Wish are not clustered together in one area like they are on Disney's other ships. Instead, they are sprinkled throughout, with several located right next door to a kids club.

Packing a costume for your kids is 100 percent a MUST DO as the whole ship is dressed up in their Captain Hook finery. My kids are early risers, so they woke up just as we arrived at Castaway Cay, and we were able to eat our room service breakfast and drink coffee as we watched the boat dock from our private verandah. After breakfast, we decided to get ready and head out early to explore the island, which is much larger than what I had expected. It has multiple beaches, including an adults-only beach, an on-island kids club area, multiple restaurants, bars, stores, and several in-water attractions, including a play structure and two water slides. While we didn’t spend a ton of time in our room resting, I was most surprised by this space as it was so much lovelier and more comfortable than I had expected for a family of four.

Other family favorite features of the room were the Disney+ and unlimited Disney movies and shows on the TV, a large verandah with killer views, and a split bathroom set up (one space with toilet/sink and one with shower/tub and sink). The bathrooms were as nice as the room and spacious, considering you are on a boat. The water pressure was excellent in the shower, and the bathrooms were outfitted with Elemis bath products.
From the moment guests walk into the castle-like Great Hall, they're entering the universe of beloved Disney stories and the world of the ports they're sailing to. Travel + Leisure talked to Laura Cabo, portfolio creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, about the new ship's creation and design. Cabo said the cruise is a uniquely intimate experience because once guests board, they never have to leave the Disney magic — "guests get to live and dine and play with our characters." A Disney Cruise Line embarkation greeting was already extremely special, but the company has dialed up the magic for kids sailing on Disney Wish.

Near the end of the naming ceremony, three godchildren/Make-A-Wish children recited the traditional ship blessing. In June 2022 DCL announced that instead of a godmother/godfather/godparents the Wish ship will have godchildren - from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Disney Wish is based out of Port Canaveral and sails a mix of three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. If you want more time on the ship, you can book back-to-back cruises to create your own seven-night journey. Kids club highlights include the Oceaneer Club's Marvel Super Hero Academy, where kids can design (and virtually fly in) their own super suit.
For little tykes eager to make a splash, Woody, Jessie, and friends present a perfect place. Much like the fun Finding Nemo splash zones onboard the Disney Wish and Fantasy, young kids not quite ready for the pool can splash in fountains, whisk down slides, and safely bounce around a bit on the soft padded areas while cooling off. We offer a full list of every pool on board further down the page in our “deck-by-deck” section.
Like all Disney Cruise Ships, the Disney Wish offers something called rotational dining during the nightly dinner service — a Disney Cruise Line innovation. Rotational dining doesn’t mean you’re sitting in a revolving restaurant. Diners are pre-scheduled to visit a different restaurant on each night of the cruise on a schedule called a dining rotation.
It’s sort-of a Chef’s Table menu where the team chooses what to give you. And if you want to add on the champagne selection, it’s $140 per person. Since it is a buffet, the menu will vary, but you can expect to find standards such as bacon, eggs, waffles and omelets at breakfast, and burgers, fries, chicken tenders, and salads at lunch. The Everymom’s product and travel selections are curated by the editorial team.
